 What is the Memory

Memory store data and information in a computer system.
Two type of memory in computer system. Primary Memory
and Secondary Memory.

Type of Memory

1)RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY(RAM)

Random Access Memory(Ram) is a Primary Memory.
Random Access Memory(Ram) is Temporary Memory.
Random Access Memory(Ram) is a readable and writeable memory.
Information can be written into and read from Ram.
Random Access Memory(Ram) is a volatile memory.
when power supply is switched off the stored
information in the Ram is lost.

 Type of  RAM

1)Static Ram

2)Dynamic Ram

2)READ-ONLY MEMORY(ROM)

Read-only Memory(Rom) is a permanent type memory.
The User can't write into a rom.Contents are written
into ROM at the manufacturing time.
ROM store permanent programs and other types of data.
Its contents are not lost when power supply is switched off.

  Type of ROM

a)PROM (Programmable Rom)
b)EPROM (Erasable Programmable Rom)
c)EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Programmable Rom)

3)Cache Memory

The data or contents of the main memory that are used frequently
by CPU are stored in the cache memory so that the processor can
easily access the data is a shorter time.
when the CPU refers to memory and finds the words in cache it
is said to produce a hit.

4) Hard disk

Hard disk is a Secondary type Memory.
Hard disk device is used for mass storage of data.
Its work with noise and high power consumption.
You cannot easily remove hard disk from from PC.

5)Solid State Drive(SSD)

Solid State Drive(SSD) is a non Volatile type Memory.
Its faster than hard disk. Its faster access time and work noiseless operation
and less power consumption.it is also suitable for notebook, and tablets that
don't require lots of storage.

6)Compact Disk

You can store 650 MB to 800 MB of information and data in Compact Disk(CD).
CD-ROM(Read only memory) can read only data from a CD-ROM.
You can store data on a CD only if you have a CD burner.

7)Digital Versatile Disk(DVD)

DVD is stands for Digital Versatile disk. DVD type of optical disc
used for storing Digital data.
DVD can store 4.8 GB to 8.0 GB of information and data.
DVD size of regular CD and can be played in a regular in a DVD player.

8) Virtual Memory

This is done by treating a part of secondary memory as the main memory.
In this scheme, user can load the bigger size processes than the available
main memory by having the illusion that the memory is available to load the process.

9) Pen drive,(USB) Universal Serial Bus

USB also know as a USB Flash drive, thumb drive or a jump drive.
Pen drive is a compact secondary memory Storage drive.
USB connects to a computer Via USB port.

10) SD Card(Secure Digital Card)

SD card stands for secure digital card.it is use in portable and mobile
devices such as smartphones and digital cameras. You can remove easily from
your devices.

11) Register Memory

Register memory used to store data and instructions temporarily.
Data is stored in registers from main memory for execution.
Register memory is small high speed memory inside cpu.

Register memory is smallest and fastest memory in a computer.
it is not a part of main memory and is location the CPU in the form
of register Memory.
