ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network)

Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, (ARPANET) or ARPAnet began development in 1996  by the united states ARPA.

ARPANET was a Wide area Network linking many Universities and research centers, was Frist to use packet switching,  and was the beginning of what we easier for people to access computers, improve computer equiment and  to have a more  effective communication method for the military.

1) Packet Switching: Instead of using dedicated communication lines for each connection, ARPANET used packet switching, which allows multiple users to share the same communication channels by breaking data into packets and sending them independently.

2) Interface Message Processors (IMPs): These were the early network nodes used in ARPANET to route data between different computers. IMPs were the predecessors to modern routers.

3) TCP/IP Protocol Suite: ARPANET played a crucial role in the development and early implementation of the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) suite, which defines the protocols used for communication on the internet.

4) Email: ARPANET was instrumental in the development of email as a means of communication between users on different computers connected to the network. The first email programs, such as SNDMSG and READMAIL, were developed for ARPANET.
